Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA)

Type: Masonic Rosicrucian society

Documented foundation: 1867 in the United Kingdom by Robert Wentworth Little

Self‑description: the SRIA presents itself as a society of study and fraternity intended for Christian Freemasons. It explores the occult sciences, the kabbalah, alchemy and the history of the Rose Cross within a Masonic framework.

Claimed lineage: the order claims a Scottish ritual heritage and the use of ancient Rosicrucian manuscripts. Its founders drew inspiration from old manuscripts circulated in British Masonic circles.

Access: reserved for Master Masons belonging to a recognized obedience and professing the Christian faith. Candidates must be sponsored by members and approved by a college.

Public contact: the official site sria.org offers a map of colleges and a contact form.

Critical note: the SRIA is an essential milestone for understanding the Masonic revival of Rosicrucianism in the 19th century. It is not an order open to the general public and its teachings remain internal to members.
